Pharmaceuticals Leader Known for Quality and Reliability
Muscat Pharmacy and Stores, founded in 1968, has grown to become a leader in Oman’s healthcare sector and one of the country’s most successful companies. Managing Director Bakul Mehta, a registered pharmacist with international experience, explains, “We have grown along with Oman’s healthcare industry and we will continue to expand in Oman and abroad. We already have a company in Dubai and we are in negotiations to establish a presence in Qatar. We may also expand further in Saudi Arabia in the next two or three years.”
The company serves a wide range of clients in the public and private sector, including the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Defense, police hospitals and university hospitals, oil companies, oil refineries and the in-house clinics and hospitals of port authorities. Muscat Pharmacy and Stores operates 66 of its own retail outlets throughout Oman and supplies around 400 pharmacies all over the country. “To provide the most efficient distribution, we have supply centers in Sohar, Nizwa and Salalah,” Mr. Mehta points out.
International partnerships and network
Muscat Pharmacy and Stores welcomes more international partnerships. Mr. Mehta explains, “We already represent a wide range of pharmaceutical brands in Oman, including Pfizer, Novartis, Johnson & Johnson and GlaxoSmithKline, and we are always looking to add to that list. We have our own logistics department and infrastructure, so we can guarantee rapid, efficient service. Muscat Pharmacy is considered to be the most reliable supplier in Oman.” The company also has its own in-house experts in medical-equipment maintenance department.
Muscat Pharmacy and Stores has worked with some of its partners for over 40 years and has received a number of awards for its services. The company supports many corporate-social-responsibility projects and aims to continue to play a key role in Oman’s high-potential healthcare sector in the years to come.
