Quality Education for All
The Holy Child Colleges of Butuan (HCCB) provides alternative educational opportunities for deserving but underserved students. HCCB focuses on blending technology-related courses with humanities ones and aims to alleviate poverty and improve quality of life for the people of Mindanao and the Philippines. HCCB is also committed to providing skilled human resources for the local and international market and to ensuring that its students are motivated by a passion for service and excellence.
Dr. Rodulfo P. Esteves, HCCB’s President, is widely known as a champion for educational opportunities for the less privileged in eastern Mindanao. He says, “We take education and the progression of innovative programs very seriously at HCCB. An example of this is our blended-learning approach.” HCCB offers online distance-learning as well as on-campus courses to ensure maximum accessibility.
HCCB is recognized by the government, the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). HCCB is a member of the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities (PACU) and is submitting programs for accreditation by the PACU Commission on Accreditation (PACU-COA).
Ready for internationalization
HCCB has been expanding rapidly. Dr. Esteves explains, “With the growth of HCCB and of our innovative programs, the institution is equipped for internationalization as part of the ASEAN 2015 initiative.” HCCB’s goals for the coming decade are to achieve Level II Accreditation for all its undergraduate programs; to establish a continuing professional-education program in courses where undergraduate programs are accredited; and to establish strong research, development and extension centers which will help alleviate poverty and improve quality of life for the underserved segments of Filipino society.
HCCB also aims to establish more international ties, including links with other research and educational institutions worldwide. HCCB promotes faculty and student exchanges and aims to expand its network in Mindanao while continuing to uphold the highest standards.
