National Airline Expanding Fleet and Route Network
LAM (Mozambique Airlines), Mozambique’s national carrier, has been growing from strength to strength. The airline offers service throughout the world, including code-share flights to Portugal and connections to several destinations in the US, Europe, Brazil and Africa and Asia. LAM also provides tour packages throughout Mozambique and to other prime tourist destinations in Africa.
LAM was the official carrier for all participants in the 10th All Africa Games held in Mozambique in September 2011. CEO Marlene Mendes Manave comments, “To meet rising market demand and in line with LAM’s fleet renewal project, in August 2011 we increased our fleet with an A Q-400 aircraft that can transport up to 72 passengers. This allows us to offer an increased number of frequencies on direct flights and provide better comfort to passengers while ensuring more reliability to our operations.”
Growing regional and international presence
Looking beyond Mozambique’s borders, LAM is working to establish a regional alliance of airlines operating in southern Africa and is planning to launch LAM International as a separate entity to operate the airline’s international routes. LAM will continue to support Mozambique’s economic and social development. The airline is very active in a number of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and environmental projects and is helping to spur on the growth of Mozambique’s private sector through providing top quality air transport for passengers and cargo.
LAM is committed to the highest standards of safety, on time performance and passenger comfort. Marlene Mendes Manave concludes, “We are motivated and committed to continue to be your airline of choice and to deserve your preference and confidence. To accomplish this goal, we will continue to innovate and invest in improving our services so you can come and fly with us more frequently.”
