Luxurious Mountain Retreat at the Foot of Mount Neru
Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge is surrounded by lush gardens in the middle of a 140-acre coffee plantation, with spectacular views of Mount Meru and of snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro. Easy to reach from Kilimanjaro International Airport and from Arusha, the hotel has hosted a number of prestigious events and will welcome delegates to the East African Development Bank conference in May. Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge is part of the Impala Hotel Group.
Rod Gomez, General Manager, explains that Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge offers exceptional security and privacy as well as luxury, one reason it often welcomes government leaders and other high-profile guests. He says, “We have a main building as well as executive cottages and seven presidential villas. We are currently building new presidential villas and an amphitheater that will accommodate 3,000 people and will be the biggest in East Africa.”
The hotel now has over 300 rooms, all with spacious en suite bathrooms, minibars, satellite TV and telephone; most have Jacuzzis. Luxury rooms have extra-large beds and some feature magnificent views of both Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro.
Focus on “state of mind”
Relaxation is the guiding principle at Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge. “We have entertainment as well, including Masai groups which perform regularly, but making sure our guests are in a relaxed state of mind is our major focus,” Mr. Gomez explains. The hotel’s amenities include a swimming pool, health club and gym, tennis courts, a golf course, a football field, a basketball court, three fine restaurants, and facilities for children, along with conference rooms and a fully equipped business center.
Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge is a luxurious home-away-from-home for visitors to Tanzania. Mr. Gomez says, “Tanzania is a very peaceful, tourist-friendly country with a huge variety of places to see and explore, and Ngurdoto Mountain Lodge is the perfect mountain retreat.”
