recodaThe Competitive Edge of Investing in Sarawak

The Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) is the force behind the ambitious Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) project, which aims to position Sarawak as a key driver of the Malaysian and regional economy in the coming decades. As CEO Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot points out, “RECODA’s primary and fundamental task is to promote and attract investments in SCORE, with two key objectives: to achieve projected investments in industry in Sarawak over the next 20 years, and to ensure that planned physical and institutional infrastructure projects are successfully implemented.”

RECODA is leading the way in implementing projects vital for the success of the second wave of development for Sarawak. RECODA manages and promotes the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) initiative, which aims to promote and attract investment in projects for energy-intensive industries, agriculture and eco-tourism; and to make sure these projects succeed.

Along with providing top-quality infrastructure to support business growth, RECODA is enhancing SCORE’s competitive edge by focusing on customer service and good governance.

With RECODA, investors will have even more reasons to target the SCORE project, which offers companies access to an abundance of inexpensive hydropower and other natural, renewable resources to fuel energy-intensive industrial ventures. SCORE also helps investors take advantage of Sarawak’s strategic location with easy connections to more than three billion consumers throughout Asia, including in India, China and Indonesia.

Providing the infrastructure enterprises need

RECODA is making sure investors in SCORE can count on the infrastructure support they need to make their business ventures successful. Working closely with other Government agencies, RECODA is improving roads, ports and other transport infrastructure (including Mukah Airport), and  along with upgrading the quality of the local workforce and fostering the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises.

To make SCORE even more attractive for international investors, RECODA is putting the emphasis on customer service. Datuk Amar Wilson Baya Dandot explains, “SCORE is the biggest and most important development plan that has ever been undertaken by the Sarawak government, and we at RECODA acknowledge that good governance and excellence in service delivery are of the outmost importance to SCORE’s success.”
