Construction Leader Offers Global Expertise and Local Knowledge

oman_strabagStrabag Oman combines in-depth local knowledge and global expertise to provide a full range of construction services. The company, part of the Strabag International Group, was launched in Oman in 1970 to build roads and gradually branched out into the construction of buildings, airports, dams and more.

Country Manager Stefan Altziebler explains, “Our projects include the airport in Sohar, now under construction, and the one in Adam, along with dams in Muscat and Salalah, but our biggest project at the moment is a road network near the Port of Duqm, budgeted at US$208 million (OMR 80 million).”

Strabag Oman, with more than 2,600 employees, is also dedicated to creating employment opportunities for Omanis and has achieved an industry-leading 30% Omanisation rate. The company has made a long-term commitment to the Sultanate and supports a number of community-service initiatives there.

On-time delivery, international standards

Defining Strabag Oman’s competitive edge, Stefan Altziebler points out, “What sets us apart is the quality of our service. We operate according to international standards using the latest know-how, and we deliver on time, which is crucial in this industry.” Strabag Oman aims to play a key role in Oman’s drive to become a top regional transport hub, and has set up a railway department to prepare for future rail projects.

Stefan Altziebler is looking forward to continuing strong growth for Strabag Oman as the country’s economy develops. He says, “In Europe, infrastructure is more or less in place. In Oman, however, there is a lot of opportunity, as development of this nature is very much still needed. We, at Strabag Oman, appreciate being able to work in this market. We are proud to be partnering with the government to develop the country and its human resources, and after more than 40 years of successful operations in Oman, we see ourselves as a truly Omani enterprise.”
